Client meeting rooms

For Canaccord Genuity’s Melbourne office at 101 Collins, AV Projects delivered meeting-room systems around client conversations, hybrid participation, and the architectural design. One executive room integrated individual cameras, retractable displays, and microphones into a custom table. Zoom and Microsoft Teams support, wireless content sharing, and automatic camera switching gave the room several ways to host a meeting, with the equipment coordinated around the furniture and joinery.

Customised Arthur Holm motorised desk-mounted displays were integrated into the meeting table. Each combined a camera with a retractable microphone, placing those components at the participants’ positions.
The control system raises the displays and microphones when they are required. When retracted, they sit within the table, keeping the equipment out of the way when it is not in use.
AV Projects worked with the principal builder and architects on the custom table, concealed equipment racks, and communications-room infrastructure. That coordination connected the AV design with the furniture and the wider office fitout, rather than treating the table equipment as a separate installation.
Hearing augmentation was also included in the room design, alongside the conferencing and presentation systems.

The system uses speech detection to select the active speaker’s camera feed. Individual camera positions give remote participants a view of the person talking, rather than relying only on a fixed shot of the whole room.
During longer periods of silence, such as when the room is listening to a remote participant, the system changes to a wider room view. Both views form part of the automatic video-switching behaviour.
The requirement was to make speaker selection part of normal room operation. The camera feeds, microphone input, and control logic were therefore designed together as one conferencing system.

The completed system supports Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with wireless content sharing available alongside the conferencing functions. The room can also operate as a conventional video conferencing space when that is the preferred format.
Bringing those modes into the same room meant coordinating the connections, displays, cameras, and controls around the different ways staff would use them. The resulting installation combines the table-based conferencing arrangement with the supporting equipment concealed elsewhere in the space.
