AV system design services, from brief to handover
Our AV system design services take a project from an initial brief through to a working, documented system. The scope runs the full path – needs analysis, concept design, detailed documentation, tender and procurement support, installation coordination, and commissioning and handover – so the important decisions are made deliberately, not worked out on site.
Needs analysis and concept design
We start by understanding how each space will actually be used: who runs the room, what they need it to do, and the standards it has to meet. We review existing infrastructure and site conditions at the same time, so constraints are known early. From there we develop a concept that balances the experience you want with performance and budget, and we explain the options in plain terms so you can decide with the trade-offs in front of you.
Detailed documentation
Once the direction is agreed, we produce the detailed design – drawings, signal-flow schematics, equipment schedules, and control intent – coordinated so the system is genuinely buildable rather than a set of diagrams that look tidy. Documented systems are easier to install cleanly, easier to commission, and easier to support years later.
Tender, procurement and installation
Clear documentation also makes procurement simpler and fairer: everyone prices the same well-defined scope, which cuts variations later. We can support the tender and procurement stage, then coordinate with the builder, ICT, and other trades through installation so the AV work lands in the right sequence with the rest of the site.
Commissioning and handover
We stay involved through commissioning – setting the system up, testing it against the performance targets we set at design, and correcting anything that has drifted – then hand over documentation the people running the rooms can actually use. The result is a system that starts meetings on time and can be supported without guesswork.
AV project management alongside the other trades
Most of our AV project management is sequencing our work around other trades and their programs. We get power, data and joinery requirements documented early, sit in the coordination meetings with the builder and the ICT team, and book our rack and cabling work for the window while the ceilings are still open. At the Danala campus for Charles Darwin University that meant commissioning level by level as each floor was handed over, and developing parts of the design during construction where the original documentation left gaps. On the NT Government boat-ramp message boards we were head contractor, so the program we ran covered excavation and concrete, structural steel, directional boring, crane lifts and traffic management as well as the screens themselves, on sites the public kept using throughout. When a date moves we say so early and explain what it changes downstream, because the expensive version of that conversation is the one you have at handover.
